National Geographic Japan

September 21, 2009

I recently received my complimentary copies of Nat Geo Japan’s Special Issue on Green Living. Wow, that’s a really long title… I might have cropped the image a little differently, but I can’t complain about a Nat Geo cover. I mean really. Who do I think I am? :)

They also used it inside at roughly 1.25 pages. Both look quite nice!

Wind Farm Strikes Again

June 4, 2009

One of my favorite pieces of personal work (and the header image for this blog) continues to produce momentum in surprising new ways. My wind farm image from a Tehachapi, CA shoot, has been selected as a finalist for the cover of National Geographic Japan’s upcoming Special Issue on Green Living. The issue is slated to print in July/Aug.

The same image will also be appearing in the Folio section of Professional Photographer Magazine’s July issue, after being part of the PPA’s traveling exhibition loan collection for the past year.

Photography Masters Cup

May 26, 2009

Today I was very proud to learn that an entry into the architecture division of the 3rd Annual Photography Masters Cup has been accepted as a finalist nominee. The image was taken in an Anaheim, CA, parking garage during some downtime while on location for a different project.

Excellent news to start the week.

Towers

March 28, 2009

Has it been that long since I updated? I guess it has…..

For a couple of years I’ve driven by this set of power lines wanting to photograph them, though it was only recently that I decided to start planning a proper shoot. While the images themselves are quite simple, the logistics involved in lighting two enormous objects on top of a hill is something of a nightmare, at least compared to the technical difficulties one normally encounters when shooting architecture. Many thanks go out to those who helped get this project completed.

Getty Center

August 18, 2008

This week I photographed the Getty Center in Los Angeles. This is truly one of those special places in the world….one that celebrates the beauty of created space, and man’s ability to shape it.

It was a great day for shooting — even the clouds cooperated!

Walt Disney Concert Hall

August 8, 2008

I recently photographed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

This place is absolutely magnificent… I plan on returning soon for more exploration.

Until then, please enjoy my favorites of the day, and be sure to check out the rest below the fold…

Intro

August 8, 2008

The old cliche is that a picture is worth a thousand words. In my experience, and especially in architectural photography, one image rarely tells the whole story.

This blog is about the supporting cast, the extras, the production, the personal work, and all the other stuff.

Please enjoy.
